Recap - Varsity Boys Basketball Season

The Varsity Boys Basketball team, led by Coaches Adam Pagan and Andy Cruz, had a season filled with both triumphs and challenges. They finished with an overall record of 7-15, including a 2-10 record in the PSAA and a 4-4 record against Deaf schools. Despite the tough competition, the team showed resilience and determination throughout the season.
The team competed in the Big East Classic, facing American School for the Deaf and Marie Philip School. Both games were hard-fought battles, but they ended in narrow losses. In the Battle of Liberty, the boys made history by securing their third consecutive victory against Fanwood, showcasing their growth and teamwork.
Unfortunately, the team did not qualify for the PSAA playoffs. However, standout player Shawn Giles was recognized for his impressive performance and was named All-Conference, a well-deserved honor for his dedication and skill.
The team then competed in the ESDAA tournament, starting strong with a hard-earned victory over Rhode Island School for the Deaf. Despite a challenging first half, they managed to pull away with a win. However, they struggled in the following two games, ultimately finishing in 6th place. Steven Fang’s outstanding efforts throughout the tournament earned him All-Star recognition.
Although the season was tough, the Varsity Boys displayed perseverance and growth. Their experiences this year will serve as valuable lessons as they continue to build for the future, striving for greater success in the seasons to come.
