New York City Black Deaf Advocates, Inc. is hosting a Back to School backpack giveaway and cookout. They will be giving away free backpacks on August 30, 2025 from 10am-5pm. You must RSVP here to attend.
Moving is Winning! Lexington's preschool, elementary, and special needs classes shared their dancing talents with families and classmates at our June 4th school dance show.
The boys and girls varsity basketball teams, coaches, and staff traveled to Albany on May 20th for the 28th Legislative Basketball Classic. The event was hosted by Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas (34th AD) and Senator Jessica Ramos (13th SD), whose districts include Lexington School for the Deaf.
May was National Speech-Language-Hearing Month. To honor the 2025 theme of "Connecting Through Communication," Lexington's speech-language pathologists (SLPs) asked students what speech, language, and communication meant to them. Click here to see a video of the students' answers!
The Classes of 2025 and 2026 didn't let a little rain spoil the traditional Junior-Senior Tea Party on May 29! Although the BBQ lunch was moved indoors, students had fun participating in tabletop games and some friendly athletic competition.
On May 2nd, Lexington students filmed part of a music video in collaboration with students from St. Mary's School for the Deaf (Buffalo, NY) and Brooklyn Collaborative Studies. This is one of the first ventures of the New York Deaf Youth Theatre group, which connects Deaf students interested in theatre arts with peers from around the state. Click here to see the video!

Lexington's Senior Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday, May 22nd. Congratulations to Valedictorian Leorenz Kyle Desepeda, Salutatorian Steven Fang, and all of the seniors who received awards at the ceremony.
Lexington students were thrilled to meet Nyle DiMarco last Friday during a special early screening of the Apple Original Films documentary "Deaf President NOW!". The documentary was co-directed by Mr. DiMarco and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim.
The 4201 Schools Association has launched a letter campaign.
They are encouraging our schools, students, parents, teachers, support staff, and alumni to send letters to Governor Hochul and State Legislators asking them to include funding in the final enacted state budget to support the continued success of our students. It takes two minutes to sign on and make your voice heard!
One of our community's favorites, Deaf Camp takes place at the Mid-Hudson Valley Camp on the grounds of the Marist Brothers Center in Esopus, NY. Registration for the summer is open and the dates have been announced: August 17- August 23, 2025
Four high school students attended 4201 Advocacy Day in Albany on February 11th. The students met with legislators and their staff to discuss the vital role played by the state's eleven 4201 Schools in educating students who are deaf, blind, or severely physically handicapped.
Four Lexington students, comprising one middle school team and one high school team, competed in the 3rd Annual NRSC-ADIB D/HH Drone Tournament on February 7th and 8th. Congratulations to the Middle School's team, the Soaring Bluejays, for winning the Communication Award for their outstanding interview and engineering notebooks.
The Lexington Alumni Association will be holding a general meeting and election on Friday, April 4 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The meeting will be held from 7-8:30 pm.
