For Employers
Lexington Vocational Services work with local businesses to provide Awareness Training to all of our clients' employers and teach them how to include our clients in projects with other employees, how to recognize discrimination against our client, and how to create an atmosphere of acceptance and respect in their workplace.
Our Job Developer works closely with new employers to dispel any negative perceptions of deafness, and provide the employer with an Awareness Training handbook. Our Job Coaches work with the employer on an on-going basis to guide them through communication and other issues that may arise during our client's employment.
By working with employers in the low-income areas in which our clients live, we are effectively expanding the job market for all deaf individuals, lessening the chance that a deaf individual will accept poverty and government support as a norm, and increasing her financial independence and economic power.
